Synergies in EU Open Data Projects
On November 19, 2024, an insightful webinar titled ‘Transforming and Exploiting High-Value Datasets: Synergies in EU Open Data Projects.’ took place. The event highlighted the vital role that high value datasets play in enhancing data accessibility, interoperability, and usability across Europe for both public and private sector applications.
Keynotes from representatives of the European Commission set the stage, emphasizing the significance of open data policies in driving innovation and smarter decision-making for public services. The webinar featured compelling presentations from four cluster projects:
- BeOpen: Demonstrating advancements in public open data sharing and collaboration.
- Open Maps for Europe 2 (OM2): Focusing on geographic data services.
- Marigraph: Addressing marine and environmental data.
- Rodeo: Innovating with regional and local datasets.
Participants gained insights into how these initiatives align to enhance the availability and quality of datasets, providing a strong foundation for improved policy-making, data-driven governance, and innovative applications.
A highlight of the session was the emphasis on interoperability and synergies among data clusters, showcasing collaborative approaches to unlock the potential of high value datasets.
